Something for everyone in Vanuatu
Vanuatu has many activities to choose from all of which take advantage of the beautiful climate and country.
Here is a small sample of things you could do:
There are two main surfing locations within walking distance from Pandanus Bay Waterfront Apartments. The first is located directly to the front of Breakas Beach Resort and is easily accessed. The break closer to the village side is suitable for beginners and above. The second surf break is located on the point in Pango Beach Estate. It is generally a larger and much faster wave and more likely to be working in all conditions. This can be a heavy wave and only suitable for experienced surfers. It has also become known as a great location for kite boarding in the waves when the wind and surf are on at the same time. This site is one of the key locations for the international kite surfing competition held once per year here in Port Vila in August.
The Port Vila Golf Club is located along Lini Highway near Mele Cove. The course is in good condition and visitors are welcome.
Port Vila has heaps of great wreck and reef diving that is easily accessed by shore or boat. There are numerous dive operators, please contact us for a list.
Port Vila offers world class game fishing 10 minutes from the entrance to the Bay. Know as the marlin high way, the deep waters are thronging with big ones.
Located over Clems Hill on the west side of the island was the set location for 3 of the Survivor series. It has stunning coves, waterfalls, dive sites and much more. Havannah Harbor is 35 minutes drive from town. Stop for a swim and tea or coffee at Giddeons landing or have lunch at the new Havannah Harbour resort.
Mele Cascades Waterfall
Absolutely a must see. Mele Cascades offers visitors the rare opportunity to see cascading fresh water pools in a startling azure colour. Stand under the waterfalls, swim under small overhangs and marvel at the freshwater shrimp. A perfect place to cool off on a hot day. It is a 20 minute hike up to the waterfalls through tropical gardens and creeks so wear shoes and clothing that can get wet.
Offers a glimpse in to the local culture past and present. Located 700m from Mele Cascades waterfall. Very interesting…an outdoor, interactive museum.
Horseback Riding at the Sea Horse Ranch
The Sea Horse Ranch offers beach or trail rides and riding lessons for all levels. The Sea Horse Ranch has day and evening beach rides along Mele Bay. It’s a stunning setting for a ride.
Around the corner from the apartments, about a 20 minute walk, is a popular beach for weddings called Honeymoon Beach. A lovely white sandy beach, fire pit and blue, blue water. Agreat spot to swim or snorkel and to spend the afternoon.
Around the Island
Hire a car and drive around the Island. There are numerous spots to stop – Eton Beach, The Blue Hole, The Turtle Sanctuary, the hot springs, etc. Enquire at Pandanus for a list of hire car companies and their rates.
